Why do people move here?
People describe Beijing like a time capsule, you can walk through the past Forbidden City and the nearby Great Wall of China, then fast track to the chaos of the urban living. Beijing is the first choice for foreigners coming to live in China, the cost of living is very cheap, but you're truly paying for what you get. Beijing has a great public transport system, including very efficient buses and a subway with trains running frequently. You can't be too reliant on your car as driving in Beijing is more challenging than in the west. People want to live in the moment.
How has it changed overtime?
China has developed dramatically over recent years. The people of China have had to use half of the world’s cement and one third of the world’s steel in order to produce very tall buildings, especially in urban areas such as Beijing.
In ancient times, Beijing had seen many battles and wars. It was a land of a lot of adversity.
According to history, the chaos had shaped the country into what it is today. It is still being debated whether or not some of these changes were for better or for worse.
In previous years, a large number of citizens used to ride bikes as their prefered method of transport. Recently, cars have become more popular.
